It’s said that aging is a state of mind. Well, it’s also a state of body. Just like the working parts of a car, the parts of one’s body tend to wear out. It makes sense. A good example is your iris, you know that part of your eye that lets light in. As you age, the muscle that controls the iris, that is makes it larger and smaller, gets weaker. And thusly, the iris gets smaller, less light is let in to the eye, and viola, you can’t see as well at night, or you need more light to read. It’s nature.
I have prostate cancer. I’ve had radiation treatment and we seem to have caught it. But I did learn one thing. If a man lives long enough, he will most likely get prostate cancer.
There are other parts that wear out. Ears, heart valves, kidneys, lungs, liver, feet, hands, they all have a ‘sell by’ date.
Does that mean one should just give up? I think not. Diet, exercise, and a good cadre of doctors can keep you going. More on doctors later.
